For Root Collar Excavations, the fix is usually permanent once the grade is corrected. For Soil Decompaction and Radial Trenching, we typically recommend a follow-up assessment every 3 to 5 years, depending on the amount of traffic the area receives.

If the tree has lost more than 50% of its canopy, it may be too late for recovery. However, if the tree is showing early signs of stress, such as smaller leaves or "tip dieback," an AirSpade treatment is often the most effective way to jump-start a recovery.

Will soil decompaction ruin my existing lawn?

The AirSpade is highly surgical. While the process does involve moving soil in specific patterns, such as spokes on a wheel or small vertical holes, it does not require "trenching" the entire yard with a backhoe. We can often lift and replace existing sod or reseed the narrow areas where we worked. Most lawns recover fully within a single growing season, often looking better than before because the grass roots also benefit from the increased oxygen.
