October 2020 - Ice Damage

Do your trees look SCARY?

We are experiencing an extreme weather event in Oklahoma that is similar to the event in 2007.

We have a large amount of calls, emails, and requests at this time. If you have contacted us and we have not, yet gotten back to you, we apologize.  As soon as possible, someone will be contacting you to gather more information about the nature of your storm damage and how to proceed.

The Tree Wizards have determined the need to contact many of our clients quickly with certain guidance on how to proceed to protect their property and trees, and this is the reason for this email.

Currently, we are addressing the most severe of emergencies categorized as follows:
1) Life threatening - If this is an emergency and you are at risk, please call 9-1-1 or your local emergency services.
2) Power lines are compromised/down due to tree limbs
3) Limb or tree penetration of a structure

Generally, we suggest getting a clean-up crew to remove the limbs that have already fallen (as long as it is safe to do so and they have worker's compensation and liability insurance).

We discourage allowing "fly by night" operations to make cuts on your trees as they tend to do poor work that will need remediation later, rarely carry insurance (or let it lapse), and rarely clean their saws to avoid spreading disease.

In the months to come, our certified arborists will be working with our clients to determine the tree risk and damage mitigation, which is based on several factors including tree species, general health, environmental conditions, etc.

To reiterate: If safe, go ahead and clean up downed limbs (or pay someone to do so), but leave the pruning for an ISA Certified Arborist.

Trees are long-lived organisms. Therefore, when you are considering the restoration of your damaged tree, it is often best to think in terms of years rather than months or days. It may take a few rounds of pruning over the course of a few years to re-establish the shape of the tree. Some trees may require growth hormones and treatments to aid health and help recover. We are committed to the long-term success of our clients' canopy.

Tree Wizard has four ISA Certified Arborists on staff and three have Tree Risk Assessment Qualifications. Though it may take us time to get to your property, we will be able to discuss your options for the future of your urban canopy.

Thank you for your patience,
The Tree Wizards of Oklahoma

APRIL 7th 2020 UPDATE - COVID - 19

As of now, tree services have been declared an essential business, and we are for business open as usual. We are following strict personal protection equipment guidelines and are maintaining social distancing guidelines tailored to our services.

MARCH 24 2020 UPDATE - COVID - 19

With the recent Norman city-wide "stay at home" order, the Tree Wizards have determined that our best course of action is to follow the recommendations of the Tree Care Industry Association (TCIA) and the International Society of Arboriculture (ISA) which "deem certain aspects of tree care to meet the definition of 'essential business' given the face that the performance of several highly skilled services directly protects the safety of the public and safe operation of buildings and residences. While not every type of tree care work performed on every property could fit into this category, clearly there are specific aspects of the industry that meet this definition." For specific information on what services are included please see the statement here:

https://www.isa-arbor.com/…/ISA-TCIA-Joint-Statement-Essent…

Tree Wizard will be reviewing our existing scheduled and accepted work orders and then separate the safety and risk mitigation work from the non-essential work. We will be in contact with our clients about their scheduled essential work, and you can call or email us at (405) 872-6973 or (405) 850-3304 or office@treewizard.com

We would like to extend our heartfelt thanks and gratitude to our clients who are showing so much patience and grace during this time.

With storm season upon us, we know that our community recognizes the importance of caring for the trees. You can continue to rely on The Tree Wizards, who have three Tree Risk Assessment Qualified Arborists on staff to help you and our community stay as safe as possible.

COVID-19

  MARCH 16 2020 UPDATE:

Due to the community concerns with COVID-19, the Tree Wizards are now offering “Teleconsultations” to our clients who would prefer to maintain social distance. We will schedule a time to send one of our four Certified Arborists to your property, then they will walk around discussing the work to be done on the phone. We will then send you a quote via email and text. Our workers have been trained in social distancing and best hygiene practices to prevent the spread of infection.

To our Clients who already have work scheduled: Tree Wizard is continuing to provide exceptional tree service to our community and if you wish to avoid direct contact we will be happy to accommodate this. Tree Wizard has a digital billing system that allows for an entirely paperless payment system when the job is finished and you are happy.
